• Masterfully executed display of light and shadow.
• With great ease and spontaneity, Erich Heckel captured the atmosphere of an evening in Italy, allowing the color effect to take precedence over the urban motif.
• Comparably powerful watercolors from Heckel"s trip to Italy in 1909, which carry the light of the south, can be found in the Brücke Museum in Berlin.
